I just got this yesterday and mostly wanted to use it as an alarm clock, but quickly saw that there is no snooze button, which is a deal breaker for me. Also, the blue clock display is extremely bright and lights up the room too much in the dark. The red "alarm" light is also too bright in a dark room.
Any one of these things would be a hassle but having all of them together makes me wish I had never bought this. As far as the quality overall, this item is made out of plastic and it looks it, especially the "lamp shade", which is pretty flimsy and cheap-looking. I can't comment on how well it works as a lamp at this point because I don't have a 25 watt bulb to put in it yet.
