In the climactic finale to the prequel trilogy, Obi-Wan Kenobi is armed with a new lightsaber—built when he ascended to the Jedi Council. This weapon is destined to fight on, through "Revenge of the Sith" and beyond to Kenobi's ultimate demise in Episode IV—which was released in 1977. Thus, the props department was charged with retaining the iconic lightsaber's original handle details—which were crafted from a World War I grenade and a faucet—while revising its form in such a way that would fit with the 2005 film's design aesthetic. A classic re-created, the resulting piece took on a narrower, more streamlined design—which made it easier to wield in Episode III's fast and furious lightsaber fights—but with a similar looking hilt. This machined aluminum reproduction of the new design is engineered from the actual prop used in filming. Chrome plating and high-gloss black resin features—along with polished brass and copper-painted accent parts—make this limited edition replica a truly authentic and interesting showpiece. Comes with a custom-designed display case, numbered metal display plaque and a certificate of authenticity.
