(More customer reviews)I was looking for an rc boat that was different from everything else out there. By choice or chance I came upon the Smasher RC HT-2879, and it's pretty durn cool.
Some good info to remember though. It's not super-detailed museum quality, and it shouldn't be. It's made for fun on the pond. The transmitter range is kind of weak, and the battery definitely doesn't last long. By using two propellers to control direction instead of a rudder it's less than satisfactory. Right from the box one of the motors was less powerful than the other, and since you can only go at full speed or none at all my boat will make large curves across the pond when attempting to go straight. Proper throttle controls or a real rudder would fix this, but then I'm sure it would be more expensive.
It's a cool boat, not like everything else on the pond, but it does leave a lot to be desired.
Update! After I wrote this review I took the boat out for the second time on the pond. About five minutes in I watched as the starboard (right) motor completely died, leaving my boat doing lazy circles out in the middle of the pond. Given its performance, I don't think I can recommend this anymore.
